Reviews
A unique experience. A wonderful place, hidden from view, surrounded by mountain peaks and forests. The remoteness and seclusion of the place is contrasted by the warmth of the people and stuff here. I got to experience maybe the best food in Romania with traditional and foreign cuisine combined, all cooked with delicious and natural local ingredients.
The tranquility and peace of this place is surreal, the song of the crickets in the evening, the sound of wood burning in the firepit and a beautiful sunset from a top of a mountain just 3 min away.
One of the most spectacular locations I have ever visited. This place will definitely remain in our memory for a long time. Words simply cannot describe the love with which this place was built, the attention to detail, the kind and welcoming people who made us feel as welcome as at home. The food is extremely good, the breakfast so varied and traditional, with organic products, the drinks were also excellent. Thank you to each of you who work here, and for maintaining and keeping this place to the highest standards.
Getting there...
The drive to Raven's Nest can be described by the old saying...Getting there is half the fun.
Scenic drive all the way to Raven's Nest with the last 2.8 Km on a road more suitable for mountain goats, but if you adapt your driving style to the road conditions you'll make it there in one piece. We, three of us, made it there in a 17 year old BMW 3 Series so pretty much any vehicle a family would own and use can get you there.
The view...
If you're looking to spend some time closer to God, or the heavens, this is the place. Situated high up on a mountain the valley below offers an incredible view, especially if you get one of the cabins at the edge of the mountain.
You really have to see it to believe it. Waking up in the morning and looking down in the valley below only to realise you're above the clouds.
The stay...
We got one of the cabins at the edge of the mountain, overlooking the valley below and a few mountain peaks.
Two story cabin with all modern amenities...WiFi, shower, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi.
We were greeted with a most welcoming fruit basket and a bottle of wine. The fruit basket ranked higher this time.
The front of the cabin deck has a outdoor jacuzzi and a separate and private sauna plus places to sit and enjoy the view.
We found the cabin clean and very tastefully decorated.
From the upstairs bedroom you can walk out onto a private balcony overlooking the valley. Great place for end of day or morning coffee.
The food...
Everything served is sourced locally so don't expect everything you can possibly order in a restaurant in Paris or London but...the food was great...and we went there for the view. If you have special dietary needs please communicate them to the staff when you make your reservation.
The staff...
Not enough words to express the warm, friendly and helpful staff. It is them who made our stay there unforgettable.
The bad...
Almost white knuckle driving the last 2.8 Km but if you adapt your driving you'll make it there, just not in a Lamborghini.
The staff...we could not take them with us. Other visitors may have noticed and maybe not have the wonderful experience we had.
The time...we only spent one night there, this time, but we're already making plans for our next trip and plans for a longer stay.
Expect to be amazed by the view, enjoy the tranquility of the place and plan to stay more than one night.
Love
Probably the best and authentic travel experience you can have in Romania. I cannot find the words to describe the views, the house in the woods, the quietness, the magic evenings, the food and the people there. If I could, I would immediately pay for a yearly pass at Raven’s Nest
One of the most beautiful place what i visited so far. Unbelievable place where you can hide from the day to day duties, tasks and you can relax and enjoy the nature. Hans and Rudi are the best hosts in the world. Thank you very much for everything guys. You made my summer. 🤩🍺
The hidden village is a beautiful place to relax and reload batteries. Staff is very helpful and nice and will do all needed to guarantee a happy stay. Traditional dishes for dinner and some very nice and romantic spots in the village for couples.
